I had seen these on Calguns before, but they always looked "wrong" to me. I couldn't ever put my finger on it. One day, soon after their opening, I stopped by Parallax Tactical to check out the store. As I was browsing and chatting, I saw a Hammerhead "in the flesh". Joe saw me eyeing it and suggested I see how it felt. Love. True love. I've got one now. I'm a fairly big guy (6'3, 235), and was never really happy with the ergos of my AR. The stocks were always too short(not LOP, height) and I only got a little connection between the bottom corner of the stock and my shoulder... The hammerhead in type 1 gives me a really stable connection from stock to shoulder. My cheek weld is more consistent, and my neck isn't sore after shooting.

"I received the grip last Friday as promised. My lower finally cleared DROS, and I took the grip along to pick it up. The dealer had never seen anything [like it] before, and was so curious he wanted to install it on the spot, which took maybe 30 seconds or so. I got to admit it feels a lot more comfortable than it looks. Definitely very solid. I'm happy with it, thank you. Honestly this thing looks so different I was reluctant to buy it right off, but once I got it on the gun all doubts vanished. Thanks again and good luck with this, it's probably the best AR add on available for use in CA."

"This is something I have been contemplating for quite some time and all in all I am glad I made the switch. For me the pro's and con's point in this direction. I am a function over fashion kind of guy but I do like the space weapon look with this grip / stock combo. I got a few inquiries on "How much for one of those" and "Where do I get one" or "Man, that thing is badass"....I have to say that I am happy with my decision on running the Hammerhead. The fact that I can run my thumb around the grip enabling a much more stable magazine change...I am happier than I was using that stupid tool for the magazine release. Hats of to Mark over at Exile Machine."

"The cheek weld on the Hammerhead is ...on the buffer tube, so your head position is fairly standard, and it feels that way. With the stock set-up the way I did, it places the stock on the shoulder actually better than the normal stock (I always seem to get just the lower portion of the stock in contact with the shoulder). The feel of the Hammerhead is more like a standard rifle - and it offers what neither of the other [compliance] products do: a place for the thumb to grip."

"The Hammerhead is the best choice for me, the ability to wrap my thumb over the top is glorious! I have a good grip on the rifle, Mag changes are easy, I have no problem reaching the mag release and overall the grip is comfortable. I've already ordered one for the wife as she likes it much better too. ...I'm very happy right now and think its the best option. BTW I dont work for Exile, just a happy customer."

"[R]etaining normal mag release function as well as the capability of running your preban hi-caps are huge advantages in competition and classes over all variations of locked mags. ...when I saw Exile Machine's Hammerhead grip I wasn't sure what to make of it. I was on the fence about the looks but the big deal for me was that the Hammerhead allows your thumb to be thrown over the grip, very much like how you would grip a "traditional" rifle or shotgun...such as an M1A or Garand for example. it is more comfortable to grip than it looks... it actually kinda sorta looks cool in a way. I think it's better than some of the other featureless options out there."

"You couldn't hope to deal with a better guy in any business! I have a SunDevil build that I'm working on. As you may know, SunDevils are overbuilt and are not mil-spec. For my first Hammerhead... the fit was designed for a mil-spec receiver. I thought I was out of luck and dared to hope for a refund. Mark not only was willing to give a refund, but also offered to look into the situation to see if he could make it work. Thank you, Mark!"

"[T]he basic grip angle, it's great. I can manipulate the trigger just fine, weight distribution isn't weird at all when I shoulder my rifle, and I can also still easily operate my magpul BAD lever."

"I really like the feel of it. My friend ask how it felt and I told him it feels like holding a Mossberg 500 with your trigger hand and a AR with your support hand. Over all very comfortable. I like it very much and another thing I like was that my mag can now be swapped quickly! always a plus! I also noticed that I can hold the AR with just the trigger hand while swapping out mags. Another good thing. Over all I think my money was well spent. I like it very much!"
